Ryan Shazier
During the 2017 season against the Cincinnati Bengals, Shazier attempted to make a head first tackle that left him a paraplegic, and he had to have spinal stabilization surgery and learn to walk again.
Ryan found restorative healing through medical marijuana as he underwent intensive physical therapy while regaining his ability to walk. He found CBD to be a safe, natural alternative to opioids to combat pain associated with a serious spinal injury and the intense rehabilitation following that injury.
Spinal cord rehabilitation is expensive, painful and exhausting for patients and their caregivers. During his recovery process, Ryan had the opportunity to meet SCI patients, caregivers and families, many of whom opened up to him about their mental, physical and emotional struggle.
Through countless stories, Ryan soon realized a reoccurring theme: there’s a tremendous need when it comes to funding, resources and support for the SCI community.

Our Grow:
Planted by hand on 30 acres located at the feet of the Appalachian Mountains, Sugarloaf Organics’ hemp is sun-grown and organically farmed,
where every stage of the plant’s life, from seedling to mature plant, is closely monitored. At harvest, plants are immediately dried and cured on site.
Extraction:
After de-stemming, trimming, and temperature-controlling plants in-house, cannabinoids are separated from the hemp buds using cryo-ethanol extraction- widely
considered to be one of the safest and most efficient methods in the industry. Once extracted, all of the ethanol used to strip the plant’s cannabinoids is fully
evaporated and recycled using lab-grade distillation equipment, leaving behind 0%
residual solvent. Next, our oil is purified and distilled twice over to remove
all other plant materials outside of cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, CBN, THC) and terpenes. What is left is a pure, potent, and lab-tested Full Spectrum Hemp Distillate.
Triple Lab Tested & Verified:
Our grow, extraction, and final product formulations are subject to extensive 3rd-party lab testing. Required lab tests are conducted at the grow, extraction,
distillation, and final formulation stages. Additionally, internal testing is carried out by our team at various stages to monitor soil health, plant nutrient levels,
water profile, and extraction protocols to continually improve our farming and extraction
processes.
Final product lab tests are publicly posted and can be found on our website. These tests verify the following:
